Initially, I didn’t think we needed a doula, and felt like having another person in the delivery room would somehow diminish my contributions (selfish, I know, but true). Then I stuck my hand in a table saw while getting the nursery ready and was no longer in a position to pout. It was the best decision! (the doula, not the table saw thing). Ashley was a great advocate for my wife, was a calming presence for everyone involved, and made sure we had the birth experience we had hoped for. She was so great, we used her for our second child too. Two fully intact thumbs up!
