Welcome to our Saltwater Doulas Mentorship Program! Our program is dedicated to connecting certifying and training doulas with families seeking sliding scale or probono birth or postpartum support. At Saltwater Doulas, we believe in providing exceptional care and support to every family, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Our mentorship doulas may or may not have hands on experience yet, but are looking for families who are willing to welcome them into their birth or postpartum space so they can offer the support they feel called to provide. Under the guidance of our experienced doulas, our mentorship program offers a unique opportunity for aspiring doulas to gain hands-on experience and expertise. Through close mentorship, our doulas receive personalized guidance and support to ensure they are well-equipped to provide the highest level of care to the families they serve.

As part of our program, mentorship doulas have access to a robust resource and referral list, providing them with valuable resources and connections to support their clients’ needs. Additionally, our mentors are available for on-call guidance and support at any time, ensuring that mentorship doulas have the assistance they need whenever necessary.

What to expect when working with a mentorship doula: 

• one free consultation to talk about the specifics of the mentorship support and the specific needs/desires for the birth experience
• one or two interviews with available mentorship doulas
• 1 prenatal meeting with the mentorship doula hired and their mentor
• 1 prenatal meeting with just the mentorship doula (with their mentor supporting from the sidelines!)
• in person birth support from the mentorship doula (with their mentor team available via text/call/facetime for real time support if needed)
• 1 in home follow up meeting with the mentorship doula
• a robust local resource list if needed
• a handful of evaluations/forms to be filled out for the doula’s certification packet
